"When they allow a talk show host to play them like a two-dollar banjo, they demonstrate what kind of backbone they'll bring to the job later on, if we elect them. After they get elected will they continue to allow Jeff Crank to put a nickel in them and wind them up every Saturday morning?"

“On Wisconsin, on Wisconsin…”
by John Alexander Madison
February 21, 2011

If there was ever a time to cheer, it is now. And, there couldn’t be a more appropriate song to sing around the nation and at the Wisconsin State Capitol than the University of Wisconsin Badgers’ fight song, “On Wisconsin.”

On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin! Plunge right through that line! (the protestors)* Run the ball clear down the field, * A touchdown sure this time. (U rah rah)
On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin! Fight on for her fame
Fight! Fellows! - fight, fight, fight! We'll win this game. (the battle for fiscal responsibility)

On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin! Stand up, Badgers, sing!
"Forward" is our driving spirit, Loyal voices ring.
On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin! Raise her glowing flame
Stand, Fellows, let us now. Salute her name! (as you lead the nation)

“Plunge right through that line” could be a directive to all legislators to ignore that lines of union members and common-sense citizens begging for the Governor and other elected representatives to return to work and do the peoples’ bidding.

Wisconsin Democrat party legislators remind me of the cowardly lion in “The Wizard of Oz,” but I suggest the lion had more courage. Put simply, these Democrats are afraid to cast their votes for a responsible, balanced budget. After all, if they supported Governor Scott Walker’s plan to require public employees to contribute to their retirement plan and pay for a reasonable portion of their health plan, the state’s deficit spending would disappear as quickly as massive union contributions to their reelection campaigns.

Wisconsin’s November election was no less a mandate to Governor Walker than the one sent to elected leaders around the country at every level of government: “balance your budgets and stop spending now!”

Think about what is happening in Madison, Wisconsin right now. Our President (the most fiscally irresponsible President in our nation’s history) and his political henchmen are butting into local Wisconsin politics in support of protesting union workers and the liberal spending agenda while our federal budget is in disarray. It is astonishing, arrogant, unprecedented and just plain wrong. Butt out, Mr. Obama and set your own house in order.

Wisconsin is only the beginning. In short order, the Wisconsin scenario will be played over and over again in statehouses throughout the country as responsible legislators step forward and cut discretionary spending to the bone and eliminate every out of control, unproductive, unnecessary “big government” program. It’s time.

Just as you might cheer at the top of your lungs for your alma mater’s football team on opening day, it is imperative that you support a return to fiscally responsible government model, just like Governor Walker was elected to do. On Wisconsin, Fight! Fellows! - fight, fight, fight! We'll win this game!

EPILOGUE
There’s no better place to start than in Wisconsin, America’s dairy land. After all, our governments’ irresponsible leaders have milked honest, hard-working, tax-paying Americans long enough!
